The Red Bridge on Hoan Kiem Lake

Well, we still have not heard any news about our G&R (the Giving & Receiving ceremony where we get the babies) date. We were hoping for today (its Thursday here) but now we are hoping for Friday or Saturday. It would have been nice to come a few days later if we would have known this ahead of time. But we are basically at their mercy so we have no choice but to wait. It is 5 a.m. here and I am wide awake! Yesterday I took a 3 hr nap in the afternoon and then we went to bed around 10 p.m., so I guess we are still experiencing some jet lag. We went out exploring yesterday and it is so hot and HUMID! We were both dripping with sweat-it looked like we were rained on! The traffic here is crazy-crossing the street is an art form. The first couple times we waited until we saw one of the locals crossing and we would run to catch up with them. There are literally hundreds of motorbikes in the intersections as well as cars and buses and nobody follows any rules. They drive on both sides of the roads, the motorbikes will drive up on the sidewalk, and they are all honking their horns. It is CHAOS! When you cross the street they say just start walking and do not hesitate, just keep walking steadily and they will navigate around you and if you stop suddenly you are more likely to get hit. The problem is that when you see cars and motorbikes coming at you your natural instinct is to stop! But we crossed quite a few streets so we are getting better at it. After we went exploring, we went to the pool and swam for awhile. I'm so glad we are staying somewhere with a pool! Here are some pictures from our day!

Fascinating!! But I suppose it's like driving in a new city back home; you just fall into step with whatever is going on around you! Hoping that you have your G&R soon!! Lisa and Mike, BN Group

Secret to crossing the street - don't stop - just keep walking! When you hesitate, they hit you (we had a woman in our group hit - not hurt - so keep on walking!)

Can't wait to see that baby!
